North Carolina
A Haywood County river town twenty miles west of Asheville, close to the Parkway and the Pigeon River.
Canton is a working mountain town rather than a resort one, which is much of its appeal. The Pigeon River runs through it for fishing, kayaking, and summer tubing, and Lake Logan's 260 acre sanctuary is a short drive from Main Street.
It sits about twenty miles west of Asheville and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, so the Smokies and the Parkway's best stops are both within easy reach.
